• Neue Stratifizierungen im Bildungssystem? Nationale und internationale Entwicklungen vom Kindergarten bis zur Hochschule - Auf der Fachtagung ist vom 26.-29.06.2017  von 108 Wissenschaftlern aus 7 Ländern die Zusammenschau der Mechanismen der Elitebildung in Bezug auf horizontale Differenzierungen und Hierarchisierungen – also Anwahl und Auswahl, Distinktion und Kohärenzbildung – in ihrer Relevanz für das Bildungssystem, die Institutionen und die Akteure untersucht worden.

• Auf der Fachtagung der DFG-Forschergruppe „Mechanismen der Elitebildung im deutschen Bildungssystem“ vom 19.10.-22.10.2015 wurden zum Thema „Internationalisierungsprozesse und Elitebildung – Herausforderungen und Folgewirkungen“ in der Stiftung Leucorea der Lutherstadt Wittenberg die Herausforderungen und Folgewirkungen von Globalisierungs- und Internationalisierungsprozessen im weltweiten Bildungssystem auf die nationalen Systeme der Elitebildung und ihrer Akteure diskutiert.

• Internationale Tagung zu „Elite and Excellence“ - Vom 29.07. bis zum 01.08.2013 wurden in der Leucorea, Wittenberg erste Ergebnisse der Teilprojekte präsentiert und mit internationalen wie nationalen Vertretern aus dem Forschungsfeldern erörtert. Mehrere namhafte Forscherinnen waren unseren Vortragsanfragen gefolgt, darunter Gerlinde Mautner (AUT), Ingela Naumann (GB), Jan Nespor (USA), Martin Forsey (AUS), Florian Waldow (Münster), Annabelle Allouch (FR) und Heiner Ullrich (Mainz). Die Veranstaltung war als Arbeitstagung konzipiert.

• The conference 'Kinship and Social Security in Europe' at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle (1st - 3rd November 2007, 47 participants from 13 countries) was about mutual assistance within kinship networks in Europe considered from historical, ethnographic, and quantitative perspectives. It also discussed alternative methodological approaches to comparison and theoretical evaluation in this field. The occasion for this was the presentation of the results of the EU-funded research project 'KASS' which investigated these themes - and their implications for fertility and social security - in eight European countries and 19 specific fieldsites. 

• The KASS research-meeting has taken place from the 27th until 30th June 2006 at the 'Festsaal' in the Meerscheinschlössl at Karl-Franzens-University Graz. 42 scientists from 9 countries reviewed fieldwork and historical findings prior to the final year of analysis and report writing.
• The kick-off-meeting of our project has taken place from the 7th until 9th October 2004 at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle. More than 30 scientists from 9 countries discussed fundamental ideas, the research strategy, aspects of fieldwork, historical methods and the organisation of further work. In a brave and enthusiastic way they tested the Kinship Network Questionnaire (KNQ) and exchanged opinions about many aspects of the research design. But there was also time to become acquainted with each other and for informal conversation. These three days proved to be a very productive time for the project, identifying several ways in which the plans for the following research can be enhanced.
